1:00 PM EST. If you bet the Giants on Monday night and tortured yourself by watching them, you likely went to bed or switched over to “The Circus” or “Dancing with the Stars” after the Falcons scored to make it 20-6 in the fourth quarter. The words you uttered before going to bed or switching channels (when you thought for sure that you lost) was along the lines of, “I’ll never bet that f***king team again.” We would not blame you one bit either, as Eli Manning and the Giants are now 1-6 after a 3-13 season a year ago. One could easily argue that the one thing Ben McAdoo did right in his tenure with the Giants was to bench Eli Manning and attempt, with remarkable futility, to end his reign of terror. The move backfired because of the timing, but the idea itself wasn’t a bad one. In fact, it was downright necessary.

We all know what happened next. The football public cried out in anger, demanded justice for poor Eli, and McAdoo saw his career come to abrupt end. And not only was Eli reinstated as the starter, but the Giants went ahead and, in a wild overcorrection, frantically rebuilt the roster around him as if last season never happened. The Giants are getting crapped on by the public and the media on every NFL talk show in the country and beyond so naturally there is going to be a big overreaction. Combine that with New York’s horror show being showcased in prime time last week and that overreaction gets magnified even more. We are not here to make a case for betting the Giants based on the X’s and O’s because that would be impossible. What we know for sure is that this is one of the biggest overreactions of the year so far and therefore there is only one way to play it. When the market zigs or jumps off, we need to zag or jump on.

The Redskins have won two straight games after getting shellacked by the Saints on MNF, but while those wins are nice on paper, they probably had no business winning either, as both the Panthers and the Cowboys outgained them. The Redskins decline can be easily pegged on quarterback Alex Smith, who of course was the "dink and doink" king of Kansas City before being pushed out the door for Patrick Mahomes. Since coming off the bye, Smith is averaging just 5.7 yards per attempt, which is well below the league average. When you look at  Weeks 1-3, Smith was averaging 7.7 yards per attempt, which made him a mid-tier starter headed into the break. Smith is on the decline and therefore so is Washington. Seriously, the only real appeal here for the 'Skins is the fact they are not the Giants, which is not saying much. Buy low and sell high. That's this game to a T. The Giants are a near "must play" in this spot, as the ‘Skins are complete frauds or a correction waiting to happen.
