8:20 PM EST. The big storyline heading into this Thursday night matchup is the return of Dolphins quarterback Brock Osweiler to Houston. If you'd forgotten that four-year $72-million deal that Osweiler signed in May of 2016, we don't blame you. With the churn and burn nature of the NFL news cycle, 2½-years might as well have been 20-years ago. That's not a lot of time to go from what one franchise thought was its future at the league’s most important position to a guy the market and pundits treated as though he couldn't walk and chew bubblegum prior to his unexpected start against the Bears in Week 6. You know what happened next, as Osweiler proceeded to light up Chicago's highly touted defense and led the Fish to an overtime win after the market pushed Miami from a 3½ to a 7½-point pooch. The former Texans QB followed up that 380-yard three touchdown performance with a 239-yard effort that included a pair of majors and no picks. Maybe Osweiler isn't as bad as Houston coach Bill O'Brien thought (spoiler: he is).

"Playing really well right now. They're doing a great job with him." Those are probably the nicest words O'Brien has spoke about his former quarterback. The friction between the coach and his former quarterback has been well documented, which has the pundits and pick sellers playing one of their favorite angles, "revenge". What exactly does Osweiler have to be bitter about? That contract the Texans gave him included $37-million in guaranteed money, which includes the $16-million he made last season NOT to play. The Texans made Brock Osweiler a very rich man and they paid dearly for buying into him when his stock was at its highest. Do not make the same mistake. The Texans coaching staff knows Osweiler inside and out and many of their defenders practiced against him, so they know what makes him tick.

Here is the question you need to ask yourself. "Do I want to be holding a ticket backing Brock Osweiler on the road, on a short week, taking back anything less than two touchdowns?" If you answer is yes, you might not be alone, as the market has bitten hard on the "hook" oddsmakers put on this game, but beware. -7½ is a favorite number and that half-point is designed to entice you to back the pooch and that's all you really need to know about this game. Throw out the Xs and Os, flush the revenge angle and stick the Texans three-game winning streak in your pipe and smoke it. The line dictates the play here. If the Fish keep this one within double digits, then so be it, but we're willing to bet that those who smell what "The Brock" is cooking here will be holding their noses when he stinks out Reliant Stadium like he did when he was with the Texans.
