4:25 PM EST. The Rams are the last remaining undefeated team and one of the real powerhouses in the NFL. They are the Super Bowl favorites at a little better than 3-1 depending on where you shop and L.A. is no doubt the better team in this game, but winning and covering are two different beasts, as Rams backers have found out the last few weeks. You see, while Jared Goff and company are 6-0 in the standings, they are just 3-3 when factoring in the point spread, which is all the market really cares about. We've written many times that spotting points on the road can be a low percentage play and the Rams backed that up, as they failed to cover against both Seattle and Denver. However, those are two of the toughest barns in the league to play in. That is not the case in Santa Clara. Levi's Stadium is no Candlestick Park and the big home-field advantage the 49ers once had at "The Stick," are long gone.

We make a point not to overvalue teams coming off of prime time games and we have little doubt the 49ers made an impression after nearly beating the Packers in front of the football world. That the 'Niners would cover the significant spread was never in doubt and if not for some questionable coverage in the last minute and a phantom flag in the final minute with the game tied 30-30 that got two frames of coverage, they just might have pulled off the upset. Regardless, San Francisco is going to get a look here, but don't get sucked in. That loss last week was a crushing one as well, and the emotional letdown of that “moral” victory is now in play.  At 1-5 and with their franchise quarterback out for the season, the 'Niners have very little reason to push back if shoved here. Here’s where it gets interesting. The Rams were a -7 point choice last week in Denver and failed to cover. They failed to cover as the chalk the previous week in Seattle and will now play its third straight on the road but oddsmakers don’t seem to care much. Furthermore, the 49ers have more market credibility this week than Denver did but the price on the Rams this week is higher than it was in Denver last week. That suggests to us by “reading between the lines” that oddsmakers expect a blowout.
