1:00 PM EST. Trailing 34-29 with just a minute to go, Jameis Winston marched his team down to the Falcons 20. A designed play that was to end with speedster DeSean Jackson picking up a lateral from Mike Evans near the sidelines and running into the end zone almost came to pass if not for a case of butterfingers from DJax. Even in defeat, the Bucs have gained some credibility, as this market continues to gravitate to teams that can put up crooked numbers. That game against the Falcons was a highly targeted game in the DFS community with Winston being one of the highest owned and top producing quarterbacks of the day, so his profile is also on the rise. However, do not get too excited about the inflated numbers that come with playing the porous and banged up Falcons defense because Atlanta is the 31st ranked DVOA unit in the NFL. Number 32? These Buccaneers.

The Bucs have given up 34, 48, 30, 21 and 40 points to the Falcons, Bears, Steelers, Eagles and Saints respectively. Their 48-10 defeat in Chicago was particularly embarrassing, as the Bucs made Mitch Trubisky look like Dan Marino. With an extra week to prepare, Tampa gave up 354 yards and three touchdowns to Matt Ryan. The Bucs are allowing an NFL-worst 9.3 yards per pass attempt and are giving up 356 yards per game on average. The Bucs D is a star-making unit for all the wrong reasons, as opposing quarterbacks have a 129.5 QB rating against them. A big reason for that is because of a weak pass rush that has only resulted in nine total sacks. Tampa is 2-3, but if not for a little "FitzMagic," it could easily be winless, which is a stark contrast in fortune to their opponents.

The Browns played their first real stinker of the season and it happened to be on the same weekend much of the market jumped on board, as it pushed Cleveland from the underdog role to the betting favorite. Those uncharted waters did not treat Brownies backers well, as the Chargers exploded in a 38-14 win. While it looks bad on paper, the death of L.A. owner Alex Spanos was a big motivator for the Chargers and there was no way they were coming out flat. If we set aside last Sunday's contest, Cleveland has been in a position to win every other one of its games. The Browns were the better team on the field in losses at Oakland and in New Orleans and the way in which they dropped both of those games was particularly cruel. Shoddy field goal kicking was their Achilles Heel in the Superdome and the Raiders were given a gift from the officials when what was originally called a game-sealing first down for Cleveland was overturned in one of the worst officiating blunders of the season. One cannot count on the Bucs to score 40 every week but one can absolutely count on that defense to allow 40. Spotting points with teams that can distinctly go down by a TD or two is bad strategy and now we get an up and coming live dog off a bad game. We also get to see Baker Mayfield thrive. The Bucs defense is death by a thousand cuts. Say hello to Nick Chubb too.
