8:15 PM EST. The easy narrative here is of course is that this is a QB mismatch with Aaron Rodgers opposing C.J. Beathard. Furthermore, it is well documented that San Francisco has more casualties than a Quentin Tarantino movie but again, we seldom discuss injuries because they are factored into the number. We’re just warning you that the number keeps getting inflated because Jimmy Garoppolo is out and because of the 49ers injuries. That’s our prompt to move in.

What you won’t read about or hear is how this is a coaching mismatch in San Fran’s favor and we’re not just talking about head coaches either. Green Bay’s new coordinators are failed head coaches Joe Philbin and Mike Pettine. It’s like one giant pyramid of pasty incompetence. The QB mismatch? Yes, Rodgers is great but he’s a play away from getting carted off the field. Rodgers is spouting off about playing until he’s 40 like Tom Brady, but Tom Brady takes a grand total of three steps every season. Dashing around from sideline to sideline and zipping lasers 35 yards down the field isn’t a sustainable quarterbacking model for such a frail guy. You have seen the best of Aaron Rodgers, and what comes next is a prolonged twilight with small bursts of magical play and many more nagging, crummy injuries. He’s not 100% and might not even be 60%.

As for C.J. Beathard, the 49ers passing offense has been more effective with C.J. Beathard than it was with Jimmy GQ. While it’s not likely to last, Beathard passed for 349 yards and two scores on the Cardinals and the defense of the Packers is probably worse. Another factor influencing the line is that the 49ers were beat by Arizona last week 28-18. However, what that score does not tell you is that San Francisco outgained Arizona by 227 yards, that Arizona converting just two third downs and that the 49ers held a massive 2-1 time of possession edge. In fact, San Francisco ran 92 plays to Arizona's 49 during the game. Kyle Shanahan is a great coach that can and will make the right adjustments while Mike McCarthy just keeps hiring guys that look worse than him so he can make himself look good. The 49ers brutal schedule thus far has including games against the Chiefs, Minnesota, Chargers and Detroit. They lost by eight to Minnesota in a misleading score, 11 to KC in another misleading score and by just two to the Chargers. They also beat Detroit. Now the 49ers are taking a step down in class and they’re being offered close to double digits against this team at this icehole? Take the points and very likely the cash too.
