Year in and year out, the Tide add one of the top recruiting classes in the nation, which gives them a level of depth that would make some professional teams blush. Alabama returns two of the best players in college football with Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Bryce Young and linebacker Will Anderson Jr. back in the fold.

You won’t find a publication, website, or any other medium that does not peg the Crimson Tide as the best team in America. Everyone and their dog has this team going 12-0. That still may happen, but there is a big difference between winning and covering. Let’s welcome the great equalizer, the point-spread.

Utah State has a game under its belt, a 31-20 win over Connecticut last Saturday. The win was nice for the Aggies and their fans, but for their backers in this market, it was a spectacular failure, as they were spotting 24 points to the Huskies. You read that right, the Aggies have moved from 24-point favorites to a team that is taking back the incredible pile of inflated points you see today. We’re talking about a swing of over 65 points in just one week. In USU's defense, they were acutely aware that they had Alabama up this week and we're not interested in UConn nor were they interested in opening up their playbook for Saban and his friends to study.

We trust that the Aggies are going to throw the kitchen sink at the Tide. We can’t say the same for ‘Bama. It’s a long season and the Tide are all but penciled in for the College Football Playoffs. There is no need to embarrass the Aggies if it gets to that point. Hell, Utah State just might be able to make a game of this. Regardless, the Aggies are very capable of coming in under this number that opened at an inflated 38½ and is now at an even more inflated price that you see here.
