Air Force and Colorado State have no love lost between each other but the Battle for the Falcon-Ram Trophy has been a one-sided affair recently with AF winning 12 out of the last 15 meetings including four straight. We can only repeat what we preach, that being this is all bullshit fodder that has zero impact on the outcome of this game. A football game 15 years ago has zero impact on the outcome of this one and to think otherwise would make one a fool. With thousands of games played collectively over decades of football, basketball or any sport for that matter, trends will develop over time and some will inevitably stick out like a sore thumb. What about the thousands of trends that didn’t develop? You never hear about those. Furthermore, when we consider the motivational levels of both sides, that edge lies with Colorado State.

Last week, Air Force clawed their way back from an 11-point fourth-quarter deficit to equalize against rival Army and send the game to overtime at the Lockheed Martin Commanders' Classic in Arlington, TX. Coming in off of a thumping of Navy in the opening segment of the Commander-in-Chief Trophy Series, the Fly Guys could taste the hardware for the first time in five years and they were favored to do so (-2.5 at kick-off), until Army would escape once again like it did in 2020 and break the Falcon hearts in a 21-14 final.

We are essentially fading a team off a deflating loss the week after, now heading on the road and being asked to spot points while it does so against a rival that is looking to end its reign of supremacy. Now trust us again when we say that no matter how you define it, the Air Force loss versus Army counts. A furious rally followed by an eventual overtime loss was as devastating as they come, and it would probably take a panel of Hall of Fame motivators to get this AF team off the mat this week. We’re confident that Colorado State has had this game circled on its calendar all year and now the planets have aligned perfectly for CSU to spank the Falcons.
