Gardner Webb +23½ over CHARLOTTE

Jerry Richardson Stadium -- Charlotte, North Carolina

6:00 PM EST. We’re not going to bullshit you into believing we know a lot about Gardneer Webb because we do not. What we know for sure is that last week, Gardner-Webb was within a late touchdown of stealing a win, but they took the loss against the Georgia Southern Eagles 30-25. Despite the loss, Gardner-Webb got a solid performance out of QB Bailey Fisher, who passed for three TDs and 315 yards on 45 attempts. If you want more information on the Bulldogs of Garner-Webb, you’ll have to look it up yourself, as this wager is not about getting behind them, instead it is a straight fade against the chalk.

The Charlotte 49ers were on TV last week when they beat a Power-Five School on the final drive of the game. That Power Five School happened to be the rat-shit Blue Devils of Duke. It was the first time in the history of the 49ers program that they beat a Power-5 team and they did it in dramatic fashion. When the clock hit zeros, the celebration was bigger than any championship celebration you’ll ever see. The fans stormed the field. The players and coaches were crying. Tears were flying everywhere. The players were rolling on the field, hugging each other like they just returned from a three-year mission overseas. The announcers were screaming. We don’t know how long the celebration lasted but we promise you it lasted or lingered for days. The emails, the handshakes, the text messages and the pride of walking around on campus are just some of the things the players and coaches had to deal with for the first time. For Charlotte, this would be equivalent to asking an NFL team to play an exhibition game the week after winning the Super Bowl. Situationally speaking, this is as good as it gets.
