7:30 PM EST. The Flames have become one of 2020’s Cinderella teams, as they have attained a polished 8-0 record, posted an impressive 6-2 against the spread mark, and even staged an upset of traditional ACC power Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. Va Tech was a 17-point favorite that day and now N.C. State is 12 points less.
N.C. State comes into this contest unranked with a 5-3 straight-up record. North Carolina State though holding three losses this season, has played a robust schedule all against ACC foes. Moreover, the Wolf Pack have already squared off with four ranked opponents (three of which were on the road). In light of a much more rugged dossier when compared to Liberty, the Wolf Pack managed to stage an upset of #24 Pittsburgh and they were just under three minutes away from upsetting #11 Miami when the two sides clashed in Raleigh, two weeks back.
Outside of the aforementioned upset victory against Virginia Tech, which we must reiterate was also attained in the most bizarre of circumstances, who has Liberty actually beat? The list is actually not all too impressive, comprised of Western Kentucky (who they were priced as substantial underdogs against), Florida International (where they nearly lost and won by just two points), North Alabama (a FCS team), UL Monroe (a team that has not won yet this season), Syracuse (a team in utter disarray), Southern Miss (another disheveled bunch), and Western Carolina (another FCS cupcake it was expected to crush). Western Kentucky and FIU are literally two of the worst teams in America and Liberty barely beat one of them and was priced as an underdog to the other.
Folks, we have no idea what’s going to happen here but if all things are equal and N.C. State comes in with a killer mentality, the difference between these two teams is better than two TD’s and it’s not in Liberty’s favor. This is a rare, massive underlay that we must attack with confidence.
