3:30 PM EST. The Longhorns suffered an upset on the road at the hands of the Oklahoma State Cowboys last Saturday in a nationally-televised prime-time event. Heading into the contest, the Hook-Ems were ranked the #6 team in America spotting a low amount of points to an unranked team in what appeared to be easy money. However, the Pokes would answer the call and dominate Texas for most of the game, leading by as much as 17 at one point. The upset has diminished Texas’ stock which allows us to step in and get them at a deflated price.

At home in Austin, the Longhorns are a different football team as they remain undefeated on their own turf. Both of Texas’ losses this year came on the road in D.C. against an inspired Maryland team playing for a fallen teammate and then the aforementioned Oklahoma State who are notoriously hostile to opponents that venture to Stillwater. However, in Austin the ‘Horns have defeated two ranked foes in back-to-back weeks by double-digit margins, including USC and TCU. This is also a football team that defeated an undefeated and top-five ranked Oklahoma in a neutral site rivalry game. It’s just when Texas is on the road that they have problems. After all, Kansas State gave them a game in Manhattan.

On another note, the last time we saw West Virginia on the road in a hostile environment against a good team it did not end well for the Mountaineers. Three weeks ago, the Mountaineers were undefeated and ranked #6 in the polls as they ventured to a sleepy little farm town called Ames, Iowa. However, when the Clones came a knocking, Ames got a rocking and West Virginia was defeated 30-14. By comparison, Texas is an even better team on paper compared to the Cyclones and DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium is consistently one of the most intimidating places to play on a regular basis. The Longhorns fell behind by a big margin last week and came within a hair of completing the comeback. One has to wonder what this number would’ve been had Texas played a strong first half last week and put away OSU in the second half. We’ll never know but the point is that this number is deflated based on last week’s results and we’re the beneficiaries of it.
