Southern Utah -6½ -101 over PORTLAND ST

10:00 PM EST. Spotting road points in-conference is not a tool we bring out often, but today it appears that there is tremendous value to be had on the Thunderbirds of Southern Utah. There is so much to like about Todd Simpson’s squad that we can’t even list it all here, but we will gush a little. First and foremost, the Big Sky was supposed to be a two-team race between Weber State and these T-Birds. On the surface, it doesn’t look too bad and nobody in Cedar City would complain about where their Thunderbirds sit at the moment. They are 5-2 in Big Sky play and 11-6 overall. However, the market is going to see a team that is about as appealing as a slot machine seated next to the crapper.

The Thunderbirds have covered just once in nearly a two-month span. That’s a 10 game run with just one ticket cashed and that was way back on December 22 of last year. That might as well have been 10 years ago. We now have a team in Southern Utah that should be getting far more respect here considering its toothless competition. We’ll get into Portland State in a moment but long story short, the Vikings are one of the worst teams in college hoops—ranked 300. Meanwhile, the T-Birds are slotted at 156.

We have nothing nice to say about Portland State because there is nothing nice to say. The Thunderbirds should be spotting double digits here and would be if their ATS record was even remotely respectable. If you are looking for a home dog that is taking back a price in this range, we’d advise you to look elsewhere. Southern Utah is a team that is on our radar and we are going to get in on them before the market and the oddsmakers catch on. Don’t be late to the party.
