9:00 PM EST. This is another case of misleading records and market perception creating a great opportunity to buy the better team at a significant discount. Colorado is a 9-3 team that has won three straight and six of eight while Washington State has lost three of its last four and is a pedestrian 8-5 on the year. On paper it would seem that Colorado is a bargain at home but we’re strongly suggesting that it is Wazzou that’s the bargain.

Colorado’s Strength of Schedule (SOS) ranks 312th in the country. Two of its nine wins were in OT against both Montana State and Duquesne. Two other victories were by one point over Brown and Eastern Washington. Turn those four one-bounce victories into losses and we’d be discussing a 5-7 Colorado squad taking back points at home. In another victory against Milwaukee, 65-54, in which the Buffs were spotting -13½, that game was tied with about 7 minutes to go. The only two good teams the Buffalos have played this year, Tennessee and UCLA, they lost by 12 and 15 points respectively.

The Cougars SOS ranks 287th, which isn’t great but unlike Colorado, the Coogs proved it can compete with the upper echelon teams in the Pac-12. Wazzou defeated Arizona State by 22 points and lost by a lousy bucket to USC. The Cougars are a deep and talented squad that should not be an underdog to the Buffalos. Wazzou has a significant size advantage and if one or two starters are cold, HC Kyle Smith has plenty of options to turn to while Colorado State’s coach has practically nobody. It’s a beautiful thing that the market puts so much emphasis on wins and losses so let’s try and take advantage of it here.
