7:00 PM EST. It was precisely one week ago today that we alerted you to Wofford being an undervalued squad when they were a small dog against what looked like a Southern Conference power in Mercer. Wofford came out with an impressive 13-point victory and subsequently added another double digit victory over Samford to run its conference mark to 2-0 and overall record to 5-3. The Terriers have made a bit of a name for themselves and look like an absolute steal here against a team at the bottom of the SoCo standings with an 0-1 mark and a 5-4 overall mark.

If Wofford isn’t the trap of the day, you’ll have to excuse us for a bad read on this one but one of our strengths is sniffing out these types of games. That said, the tale of the tape reveals that Greensboro just lost to East Tennessee State. They were a 10½-point favorite. As a 21½-point fav over Coppin State bacon December 10th, the Spartans lost that one outright as well but it does not stop there. UNC Greensboro has failed to cover, losing against the spread by margins of 17, 10, 27, 12 and 14 points in five of its last eight games. This is a Spartans’ squad that has failed to cover in six of its last eight games and now they’re evenly priced against the Terriers in Wofford?

Beneath Wes Miller’s galvanizing local boy hero aura lies one of the most sophisticated basketball minds in the game of basketball, thus we’re not sure why the Spartans are struggling so much. “Loaded” is the word that comes to mind when scanning the roster. There are two stud freshmen who would start for eight of the 10 teams in this league that had a hard time cracking the primary rotation and they have a stud guard by the name of Isiah Miller. The oddsmakers are clearly taking a position here on the Spartans and therefore this is truly a case of playing the number and not the teams.
