TCU/North Dakota St under 126½

9:00 PM EST. Forget North Dakota for a sec, as they are a team that the market will not pay much attention to. Although the 12 points being offered here are mighty appealing, we trust that playing the game to go under the number is the superior wager. Time will tell but before we get into why TCU is such a great under bet, we’ll assure that the Bison of North Dakota State will have no objections about the slow pace that this game figures to have.

TCU’s last four games have resulted in scores of 77-76 against Oklahoma State. It went over the total of 134. Against Providence, the final score was 79-70 and it went over by 15 points. Against Oklahoma, the final score was 82-78 and it flew over the total of 137. The Horned Frogs also put up 73 against A&M and although the game went under the total of 130, the Aggies scored just 55 points and the game missed going over by a bucket. On the surface, 126½ doesn’t seem like a lot of points considering that the Horned Frogs put up 70 or more in five straight games.

Truth be told, there’s a matchup-specific edge here, as both teams play at a painfully slow pace. After waving goodbye to two stellar point guards at the end of the 2019 campaign, TCU played at snail’s pace last season. Jamie Dixon has stuck to that methodical pace so far this year, only once surpassing 67 possessions in TCU’s first seven games. Look no further than the first game of the year against Houston Baptist, one of the most frenetic teams in America, when TCU suffocated the tempo to a slow-motion, 64-possession affair. After catching fire from downtown against Texas A&M then playing OSU’s 62nd ranked pace, bet on TCU’s shooters hitting iron instead of net in this letdown spot against a non-conference opponent in what should be an out-of-division crawl with the Bison.
