8:30 PM EST. We hate to kick a team while it's down, but Jacksonville State has been in a near free fall since the end of January. The Gamecocks are just 1-5 in their last six games, which is bad enough, but three of those defeats came by double digits. It's tough to spot a price with a team like Jacksonville State because it is capable of getting whacked at any time. The last time the Gamecocks were priced in this range, they lost outright to Belmont 78-64 (as -6-point chalk) and they dropped a decision to their opponents tonight in Southeastern Missouri State, 76-72, as a -7 point favorite. This has been billed as a "revenge" game for the Gamecocks, as they look to extend the Redhawks 13-game road losing streak, but that is a tired angle that should have no bearing here.

The bottom of the Ohio Valley is a mess with just three games separating from #6 Morehead State (6-8 ) and these #12 Redhawks (3-11). Although Southeast Missouri State is looking up at everyone in the OVC, it has played better ball of late after winning three of its last four. The only defeat was a two point decision to Tennessee Tech. We can understand if there is hesitation to back a side that hasn't won a true road game this season, but we aren't asking the Redhawks to win (although they are capable), we are merely asking them to cover a significant price against a school that has no business spotting such a number. Misery loves company and the Redhawks figure to be motivated to knock the Gamecocks down a rung or two, as these two teams fight for the eighth and final seed in the OVC Tournament.
