CLEMSON -2 -110 over Syracuse

7:00 PM EST. Syracuse is arguably the hottest team in the ACC after posting five straight wins. There are some nice victories in there as well, including road wins at the defending champion Cavaliers and Notre Dame. The Orange have been road warriors in ACC play, as they have won all four games they have played in the conference outside The Empire State. It all sounds so good, but Syracuse was not supposed to be an ACC contender this season. The Orange were pegged to be middle of the pack fodder, but currently trail Duke by one game for third place at 6-3. The Blue Devils shadow looms large in this spot, as Syracuse will play them next, on Saturday night, in a nationally televised game on ESPN, which makes this a favorable look-ahead spot. The Orange are no doubt overachieving, but they have also played a weak non-conference schedule that ranks 219 out of 353 ranked schools. Wins over the Irish and Cavs while nice, were also by just a basket in both contests. Another win at West Virginia came in overtime. The Orange could just as easily be 2-3 in the conference as they are 5-0.

It wasn't that long ago that Clemson was the ACC upstart after wins over Duke and North Carolina, but its stock has since fallen after losses in two of its last three, including an 18-point waffling on the road at Louisville. We actually faded the Tigers in that spot and were happy to cash a ticket, but it is now time to switch gears because the Orange are riding too high, just as Clemson was last week. The Tigers are now available at a discount. We often like coming right back on a team that just got whacked, so the Tigers figure to be a live bounceback candidate here, while also catching the Orange with the Dukies on deck. It's the perfect recipe for a trip to the pay window.
