NCAA Tournament - East Regional - SAP Center - San Jose, CA

4:30 PM EST. The Ducks were on the outside looking in at this NCAA Tournament after back-to-back losses to UCLA and USC in late February, but they have since gone on an incredible run that includes eight wins and covers in a row with a Pac 12 Championship to secure their seat at the table. It's a good thing the Ducks took care of the Huskies last Saturday because the Pac 12 was given no respect this season by the selection committee. Just three teams made the field of 68 with Arizona State being given the play in treatment and the 26-win Huskies being given a No. 9 seed. Now, we're not going to take anything away from the incredible run Oregon went on, but how much momentum does it really carry over here after ripping of four wins in four days and running the table as a No. 6 seed to a conference championship and how much weight should we put in those victories considering how weak the Pac 12 is compared to the other Power Five conferences. We suspect the Ducks will get a lot of looks after going on such a heated run, but Oregon is trading at its season high so now would be the time to sell.

Wisconsin finished fourth in the Big Ten and bowed out to the conferences No. 1 seed, Michigan State in the semi-finals. The 14-team Big Ten was loaded this season and there was rarely a night off with the teams in the lower half of the table, with Indiana, Illinois, Penn State and Nebraska proving to be tough outs. Wisky played the sixth toughest schedule in the nation, which is 68 spots ahead of the Ducks and the Badgers played a tougher non-conference schedule (82-to-160) as well. KenPom ranks the Badgers as the 12th best team in the country, which would suggest they are underseeded here. Meanwhile, the Ducks are 43rd. The Badgers are the better team from the tougher conference but all the talk is how hot the Ducks are, which provides us with this opportunity. Again, Wisconsin is the 12th-best team in the land, and they garnered just a 5 seed. That’s not right and it’s also worth noting that Wisky’s efficiency rating is actually a good bit better than the efficiency rating of the average 3 seed in tourneys since 2000 (14.68) but the committee listed them 19th overall. The Big Ten has to be thrilled to get eight teams in, but it probably won't be too happy with how some of its teams were seeded and once again, just like they are almost every year, the Badgers are being disrespected and we’ll trust them to respond.
