Big Ten Tournament - United Center - Chicago, IL

6:30 PM EST. The Cornhuskers had their eyes on a sure NCAA Tournament bid this season after being predicted to finish near the top end of the Big Ten table, but instead, they were 13th in the 14 team conference. Nebraska went just 6-14 in the Big Ten, but they did finish with two more wins than Rutgers after playing a tougher non-conference schedule that ranks 130 spots higher than the Scarlet Knights on KenPom. Injuries have been the big story for Nebraska after freshman Amir Harris went down in its win over Iowa and he's the third guard the 'Huskers have lost in the last week. However, Nebraska is deep and is still led by seniors James Palmer Jr. and Glynn Watson Jr., who has found his scoring touch after averaging 20.8 points per game over his last four contests. Palmer Jr. is primed to become the sixth Nebraska player in school history to score 600 points. The 'Huskers might be short on manpower, but they are not short on talent.

That Rutgers didn't finish last in the Big Ten has to be considered a success, as it's the first time that's happened since they joined the conference five seasons ago, but forgive us if we limit our enthusiasm. The Scarlet Knights defeated Nebraska in the only meeting between these two teams this season, but that game was up in New Jersey and this Big Ten Tournament matchup will take place in the cozier midwest confines of Chicago's United Center. Rutgers may have finished ahead of Nebraska in the Big Ten standings, but on KenPom, the 'Huskers are ranked 45th, while the Knights are 77th. That's a wide gap, which makes this a short price for Nebraska to be spotting on a neutral court to an inferior opponent.
