6:30 PM EST. We’ve had great success in these early start games and we’re not letting up here. The Pirates are a bubble team through and through, but that doesn't mean they aren't going to be focused down the stretch. Seton Hall has a pair of games against the two top teams in the Big East, which gives it a great chance to build an NCAA Tournament résumé. The Pirates have lost three in a row, but they were by very slim margins, including a 77-71 defeat at Georgetown, but the Pirates forced overtime before falling in the end. The Pirates don't have as many wins as the Golden Eagles, but they have played a tougher schedule. When these two teams played in Milwaukee on January 12, the Pirates dropped a 70-66 decision and they were a 4½-point pooch. Now they are taking a basket less on their home floor. We've been critical of the #15 Golden Eagles as a one-man show and their chicken may have come home to roost, as they stumble into the Big East Tournament. Marquette has dropped back-to-back games against Villanova and Creighton and now sit a half game back of the Wildcats for the regular season title. Of course, Markus Howard got his on Saturday against the Bluejays with 33 points, but his teammates could only muster another 27 combined in that 66-60 defeat. To give you an idea of how reliant the Golden Eagles are on Howard, there was a stretch against Creighton where he scored 21 straight points over 11 minutes. Oh, he also coughed up six turnovers. The dude cannot help but try and do it all himself because that’s all he reads about. Social media is pounding it into his head that he has to do everything and he’s taken on that role. For a team that isn’t very good defensively, Marquette had done a nice job avoiding the bad shooting games that lead to upsets but now that the cat is out of the bag….avoid this team, both tonight and in your brackets. Marquette is an overachieving, overpriced entity that we’re intent on fading and it starts here.
