9:00 PM EST. We backed the undervalued Hoosiers earlier this week as a six-point pooch over Purdue and we gladly cashed that ticket but that cover did not take a bite out of the value these Hoosiers still offer. The Hoosiers record leaves much to be desired at 13-13 and 2-8 in conference, but one of those victories did come over #9 Michigan State. That was Indiana's second win over a ranked opponent this season. Before the disastrous 1-12 run IU is currently mired in, the Hoosiers were 12-2 to start the season and had some nice wins over name non-conference competition. When you factor in the tough 14 team Big Ten, Indiana has played the second toughest schedule in the nation according to KenPom. This team is battle tested and they can still find their way to March Madness with a strong finish and a good showing in the conference tournament. Another signature win over a ranked conference foe could go a long way also. The point is that the Hoosiers are good and they have not given up.

Iowa is ranked #9 in America, but the Hawkeyes have been playing with fire, as four total points have decided their last three games. Those results include a 66-65 loss to Maryland, a 71-69 win at Rutgers and a narrow 80-79 home victory over Northwestern. While its 20-6 record is impressive enough on paper and apparently worthy of national recognition, a closer look shows Iowa feasted on a non-conference cupcake buffet that embarrassingly ranks 326 of the 353 graded schools on KenPom. While Indiana was playing Butler, Louisville and Marquette, the Hawkeyes were picking on little guys like Alabama State, Western Carolina, Savannah State and Bryant. Perhaps in an alternate universe where IU played Iowa’s weak sked and vice versa, it would be the Hoosiers who would be the overvalued ranked side here. These two teams actually played up in Bloomington just over two weeks ago and Iowa walked away with the 77-72 win as a 2½-point underdog that night. Now the Hawkeyes are up 8½-points from that game because why? That's what we call taking back inflated points against a ranked school with a quality opponent.
