The vaunted "Press Virginia" scheme that is employed by head coach Bob Huggins is not to be feared as it was in years past because this edition of his Mountaineers simply do not have to horses to make it effective for 40 minutes. You can’t teach an old coach new tricks. Huggins is ready to hit the panic button and take the redshirt from Trey Doomes and put him in the struggling backcourt. West Virginia got by before Big 12 play began by feasting on a middle of the road, non-conference schedule (156th), but since the riggers of the Big 12 began, the Mountaineers have been beaten in three straight. That includes a blown 21-point lead last time out against Kansas State. That loss to the Wildcats came on the heels of defeats at Texas and Texas Tech, which makes this WVU's worst start to conference competition in six seasons.

The Cowboys are coming off a win over rival Texas and are 1-2 in Big 12 play and 7-8 overall. While those marks are not likely to inspire, Oklahoma State has played one of the toughest schedules in the nation according to KenPom (11th). OSU didn't make it to the big dance last season, but they also went through the wringer in 2017-18 with a brutal schedule that did include eight wins in the Big 12, which we will argue to the death, is perennially the toughest league to play in year-to-year in college hoops. Coach Mike Boynton could have taken the easy way out here in his second season at the helm in Stillwater, but he did not and so the Cowboys are battle tested and again well equipped for just about anything these Big 12 schools can throw at them. The table is set for an upset so don’t be afraid to use the dog in some money line parlays but we’ll grab the points for this straight bet.
