9:00 PM EST. Before even a single game is played, the polls are released and there are going to be mistakes made. There are teams that are overvalued and there are teams that are undervalued and right now the Mountaineers might be the former. WVU comes in as the 13th ranked team in the country despite already losing to an average Penn State team by a bucket in a meaningless exhibition game. That didn’t count but let’s not ignore that the Mountaineers are not the same force that they were last season. Bob Huggins has eight newcomers that will have to learn the “Press Virginia Defense” and that’s not easy to do. There will be lots of mistakes made before conference play kicks in and so now would be the time to try and take advantage. With the loss of leading scorers Jevon Carter and Daxter Miles, West Virginia’s focus will shift to a strong frontcourt but still makes spotting this type of weight to a good opponent far too risky.

Buffalo absolutely dominated the MAC in 2017 and in 2018. The Bulls went 15-3 in conference play and cruised through the conference tournament to earn the MAC’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament but this group was not done there. Buffalo crushed Arizona in the first round before bowing out to Kentucky. That win over Arizona was a great program building victory and Coach Nate Oats should continue that success with much of his roster returning. CJ Massinburg, Nick Perkins and Jeremy Harris all averaged over 15 points per game last season. Massinburg and Harris do much of their scoring from beyond the arc where both shot over 40 percent. Massinburg especially does a lot of damage by attacking the basket and the 6-3 guard led the team with 7.3 rebounds per game. Like Massinburg and Harris, Perkins is also strong on the glass. Perkins, a 6-8 forward, is a consistent force in the paint on the offensive end. A team that is as good as the Bulls shouldn’t be spotted this many points and it’s probably the only time this year (barring injuries) that they’ll be offered a price like this. Buffalo keeps this one scary close.
