L.A. Lakers/Denver under 226½ -104

8:30 PM EST. Following a hard-fought, high-scoring Game 1 between the Nuggets and Lakers, one could wager on the Lakers to hang around and perhaps win this game tonight, but we are going to attack Game 2 from a different angle.

In Game 1, the Nuggets put on an offensive showcase, scoring 132 points en route to a victory. Led by Nikola Jokic's triple-double performance and contributions from Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr., and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, the Nuggets posted their highest point total of the playoffs. In all six Nuggets scored double-digit points.

Game 1 sailed over the posted total of 222½-points by 35½ points, and the Lakers held up their side of the bargain to make that happen. Despite the 132-126 defeat, LeBron James finished with 26 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists, while Anthony Davis scored 40 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double.

To close, both of these teams shot the lights out in Game 1, with the Lakers going 55% from field goal range and 46% from downtown. Meanwhile, the Nuggets were also 55% on their field goals and 47% on their 3-point attempts. We cannot predict if both teams will be hot shooting again tonight, but the oddsmakers posting a modest increase for the total in Game 2 in light of the shootout in Game 1 suggests that one or both of these clubs could come crashing back to earth. If there is any regression on either side, we have a great chance to cash this wager on the under.
