INDIANA -1½ -104  over New York

As one of last season’s “biggest surprises,” the Knicks are in position to disappoint. They’ve already blown a home game vs. Orlando, who was coming off 25 and 26-point losses before getting wiped out by Toronto. Despite that, New York’s stock is still high for this game because of its 5-2 record and because at 2-6, Indiana’s stock is low. Furthermore, this game opened at -2 and we’re seeing the efficient market step in. By game time, don’t be surprised to see the Knicks favored. 

The Pacers weathered some first-season transition issues under coach Nate Bjorkgren last season but eventually began looking something like the good Raptors offense that the guy had helped develop over there. What they did do to help further this improvement is fire him and hire Rick Carlisle, which is another transition that figures to start paying some dividends too.
