ORLANDO +8 over N.Y. Knicks

7:10 PM EST. What a great opportunity here early in the year after the Knicks provided us with some riveting entertainment to open the year. All eyes were on the featured game of the night in prime time on ESPN, as the Knicks and Celtics played what is being described as the greatest opening night game ever. The game went into double OT where the Knicks would outlast the Celtics. It was an exhilarating victory for every player on the Knicks and for every fan in the building. Millions watched and thousands cashed a ticket as well, as the Knicks covered the -1½-point spread.

Meanwhile, in San Antonio in a game that nobody gave a fuck about, the Magic were donkey-kicked by the Spurs by a score of 123-96. Keep in mind that Orlando won 21 games last year out of 82 attempts while the New York Knicks endeared themselves to millions with their amazing stretch run and great work ethic. After the first game of the year, New York’s stock continued to rise while Orlando’s dropped even more, if that is at all possible, thus setting up this great play.

The Knicks were lit up on Wednesday night. Kemba Walker was facing his old team. The place was rocking while the celebration lasted well into the night. Knicks opened as a -5½-point favorite here before the efficient market got a hold of the number.

Orlando fired its head coach Steve Clifford and then hired long-time Mavericks’ assistant Jamahi Mosley. They were injured and out of it very early last year but more importantly, Orlando opened as a 5-point pooch in San Antonio before the efficient market drove it up to -6½ by game time. The Spurs went gate to wire in an easy win and now the reaction here is two-fold. There is a reaction to the Knicks impressive win and Orlando’s horrific showing. The Magic now go from a 5-point road underdog to an 8-point home pooch based on opening night results. It’s a massive overlay. Don’t be surprised to see Orlando win outright.
