Marion Reneau +139 over Miesha Tate

11:30 PM EST. The last time we saw Miesha Tate in a cage fight, "Cupcake" was taking her licks in a loss to Rachel Pennington way back in November of 2016. Nearly five years later, after moving to Singapore to try her hand at MMA management for ONE FC and hosting duties on SiriusXM, Tate is back. Why?

When "Cupcake" walked away after the Pennington fight she said this. "I love you all so much, I've been doing this for over a decade. Thank you so much for being here, I love this sport forever but it's not my time anymore." That last point hits home harder today than it did then. Sure Tate may see some familiar names like Holly Holm, Germain De Randamie or Sara McMann in the top 10, but young fighters such as Aspen Ladd, and of course the "Champ, Champ" herself and queen of this jungle, Amanda Nunes, are working on taking women's MMA to the next level. Tate, Rousey, and Holm built the foundation of Women’s MMA, but the game has changed.

Rather than throw "Cupcake" to the lions, we suspect the UFC has big plans to fast track her to a title fight with the "Lioness", as she is desperate for fresh meat. However, for that to happen, Tate must grind through this matchup with another UFC veteran.

Marion Reneau is never going to have anyone in this market skipping to the window to bet on her, but this role of spoiler is one she should relish. The 44-year-old has been active, although her four straight losses are not going to help her curb appeal. However, do not undersell "The Belizean Bruiser." She's faced some stiff competition as of late, including #9 ranked Macy Chiasson last time out and now she's playing with house money. A win here over Tate would likely put her right back into the top-10. Reneau has nothing to lose and everything to gain here, while the situation is exactly the opposite for Tate. The pressure on “Cupcake” here will be tremendous. So much so that we're willing to bet that it will be too much.
