UFC VEGAS 30 - UFC Apex - Las Vegas, NV

Jai Herbert +200 over Renato Moicano

4:10 PM EST. Call this a throwaway bet if you like but these odds suggest that Jai Herbert is a very live pooch here. While much of the focus of this main card opener is being directed toward his opponent, "The Black Country Banger" looks primed to hit reset on his UFC career after getting knocked out 11 months ago in a catchweight fight against Francisco Trinaldo. One has to feel for Herbert, who was making his promotional debut that night. Trinaldo was unable to cut weight and came in four pounds over the limit. Not one to pass up his biggest opportunity yet, Herbert agreed to a catchweight fight, and he paid dearly for it. Now after nearly a year on the sidelines, it appears that "The Black Country Banger" is being thrown right back into the fire.

Renato Moicano’s life in the UFC has not been easy. He came into the promotion at 145 lbs, which has been one of the best pound for pound divisions in the UFC for a long time. "Mohawk" won his first three fights before running into Brian Ortega's guillotine choke in July of 2017. Since then, it's been a mixed bag with wins coming over Calvin Kattar and Cub Swanson in the aftermath of his loss to Ortega. However, Moicano has dropped back to back fights to Jose Aldo and The Korean Zombie, ending his potential contention at 145 lbs. A move to lightweight (155 lbs) appeared to look good on "Mohawk," as he submitted Damir Hadzovic in his 155 lbs debut. However, a brutal KO loss to Rafael Fiziev has "Mohawk" right where he started. Looking on the outside of the top-15 without nary a ranked opponent in sight. To be honest, we’re not sure how "Mohawk" could be priced in this range against anyone. Overlay.
