Marcin Tybura +130 over Ben Rothwell
Posted at 12:30 PM EST.
9:45 PM EST. Marcin Tybura looked to be a much-needed infusion of new blood into the heavyweight division when he burst into the scene with three straight wins in 2016-17, but he then lost four of five with three of those coming by way of knockout. However, Tybura has now strung together a pair of victories with the latest coming here on Fight Island at UFC 251 in July.
Ben Rothwell has won two straight fights over Stefan Struve and Ovince Saint Preux, but forgive us if we're not ready to say he's "back." To be honest, we're not sure Rothwell was every really "here." "Big Ben'' has been kicking around the UFC since 2009, but if you look at his fight history, he had 36 professional bouts before he ever stepped foot in the Octagon with his MMA pro debut coming way back in 2001. Rothwell might seem like a young man at 38 in a heavyweight division that still features elder statesmen such as Alistair Overeem, but there is a lot of tread worn off those tires. Rothwell has made a living as a punching bag and at some point, that will catch up with him. For a while, it looked like it had, as "Big Ben" dropped fights to Junior dos Santos, Blagoy Ivanov and Andrei Arlovski before getting back on track against Struve. In his win over OSP, Rothwell was the pooch, but now he's the betting favorite. That's a role reversal that he may not be equipped to handle.
