Washington +125 over Arizona

8:10 PM EST. Thomas Henry (LHP - ARI) went 3-4 with a 5.36 ERA in 47 innings for the Diamondbacks last year. A solid first half at AAA ultimately earned him an August call-up, but strike zone command issues really showed up in the bigs. In truth, he's shown a similar mix of hittable stuff and shaky control throughout his time in the minors, so it wasn't a big surprise and nothing has changed this year. In fact, it’s worse. Henry has a BB/K split of 5/4 through 10 innings. His ERA/xERA split is 6.52/6.86. Small sample size, yes, but when you combine it with last year's 47 frames, we’re now discussing 57 innings of pure disaster for a weak starter with a weak swing and miss rate of 7%. He’s the poster boy for fading a favorite.

MacKenzie Gore (LHP - WAS) is a former top prospect who has shown flashes of tapping into that upside. His early 2023 results have been good and they’re getting better. Everything in Gore’s profile is trending the right way. He has 39 K’s in 31 innings with a groundball rate of 53%. His groundball rate in the last two games was 60%. At age 24, he's a post-hype prospect worthy of our attention and we’ll put that to the test here.
