Minnesota +106 over Chicago

7:10 PM EST. The White Sox have won two straight games, both in walk-off fashion, to post their first winning streak of the season. That, by itself, is enough to step in here and fade the South Siders, but that Dylan Cease (RHP - CHI) is starting serves us well, as his issues with control and command have reared their ugly heads this season. Cease has an inflated WHIP of 1.38. Cease has seen his walk rate increase this season with 15 walks issued in just 30 frames. When you walk batters, you set yourself up for trouble. Cease is walking 10.6% of hitters and has been given the hook after four innings in each of his last two starts.

The Twins will turn to Louie Varland (RHP - MIN) once again after Tyler Mahle was sent to the injured reserve for at least a month with a strained right arm. Varland has made one other start this season in the bigs where he went six innings against the Yankees, giving up three runs on three hits with just one walk and eight strikeouts. Varland's delivery has been described as "violent," and with that comes the ability to fool batters. In AAA, Varland's changeup, cutter, and slider all had a swing-and-miss rate of over 16%, with his slider up at 24%. Varland started five games for Minnesota last season, facing the White Sox twice, where he went 1-0 with eight strikeouts over 10 innings. Big things are on the horizon for Varland, and we're getting in on the ground floor before the rest of the market catches on.
