Jonathan Heasley (RHP - KC) brings an incredibly inflated walk rate of 5.01 BB/9 into this one with a wimpy 6.12 K/9 strikeout rate to go with it. That’s a rough combination. His tidy surface ERA of 3.62 is all smoke and mirrors, as his xERA is a far more accurate reflection of his struggles at 5.82. Heasley’s WHIP is 1.36 on the season, but a closer look shows if not for a decent start against the Orioles the last time out, his ERA would be much higher, as he posted WHIP marks of 1.50, 1.50, 2.00, 1.40 and 2.40 in his five other starts this season. One fine outing against the O’s is not enough to erase his many other struggles. The Giants figure to tee-off on Heasley this afternoon, where the park plays more of a hitter’s park in day games.
