Detroit +173 over Tampa Bay

6:40 PM EST. The Tigers are too good to own the second worst record in all of baseball so now would be the time to jump on this bandwagon before it’s too late. We would’ve played them this past weekend but they were favored in all three games against the Orioles but we are not late to the party. You see, the market is not going to put much emphasis on Detroit beating Baltimore.

For the next 17 games and ending with a three-game set against Minnesota on June 2, we’ll be playing the Tigers daily. Detroit will be an underdog all three games in Tampa, then it’s 15 straight games against both Minnesota and Cleveland where the Tigers will be a dog in most of them and only a slight favorite at home in the others. This is game 1 of 17 in anticipation of Detroit winning more games than they lose over that span.

Here are today’s starters:

Alex Faedo (RHP - DET) is a former first-round pick who has fallen behind other starting prospects in the Detroit organization. He's healthy again in 2022 and has gotten a couple of chances to start games and he looked pretty good. In 10 frames, Faedo has struck out eight, walked three and posted a 45% groundball rate. He also has a very strong 14% swing and miss rate in this small sample. Still, dude has shown good building blocks and was better in his second start than we was in his first.

Corey Kluner (RHP - TB) is already 36 years old. Recurring shoulder and forearm injuries have limited this one-time workhorse, both in innings and ability to work deep into individual starts. He’s made six starts and has pitched a total of 30 innings or on average, five innings per start. His skills have similarly fallen off, starting with velocity and trickling down to BB%, K%. Kluber is firing 88 MPH these days. His best days are well behind him but he’s priced like they are not.
