Minnesota +120 over CLEVELAND

6:10 PM EST. Triston McKenzie (RHP - CLE) has been near flawless over his last three starts. He’s facing a Minnesota club which has fallen off of late (.679 OPS last 18 games). McKenzie has missed a lot of bats lately (16.0% swing & miss rate last four games), and he’s given the Indians 6-plus innings in five straight starts. Over those five turns, he has registered an 11.3 K/BB while posting a 1.85 ERA. Point is, dude is one of the market’s hottest commodities, which makes us sellers. What also makes us sellers is that the price on Cleveland came out so short today (-130) considering how hot McKenzie has been, his unrecognizable mound opponent and how beatable the Twins have been all year.

Joe Ryan (RHP - MIN) started last Wednesday and gave up three runs in five innings in his MLB debut. Ryan was in the Nelson Cruz deal and brings brilliant command of his fastball that has fueled an elite K%-BB% all the way up the minor league ladder. He fared pretty well for Team USA in the Olympics, too, with 10 K and 1 BB in 5 innings. Ryan throws from an unorthodox 3/4s slot, hiding the ball in his body until the last possible moment. This creates a difficult angle to pick up his pitches from, especially his heater. As mentioned above. The movement profile isn’t extraordinary, even though he’ll occasionally add some cut to it. We have always endorsed these pitchers with great command that can change speeds with such ease. Even though he’s raw, we’re going to trust that the oddsmakers LOVED what they saw in Ryan and appear to be offering up the Indians at a bargain. Buyer beware.
