WASHINGTON -1½ +177 over Philadelphia

7:05 PM EST. Chase Anderson (RHP - PHI) has had a pretty shitty season, all things considered. He started the season in the rotation but pitched so poorly that he was demoted to the bullpen. Then in June, he got COVID-19 and missed some action. Now the Phillies, who are desperate for anyone to step up and give them a good outing on the mound, will turn back to Anderson tonight. There is nothing to like in this scrub's profile and there's nothing to like about Philadelphia with a run differential of -17.

The Nationals are in rebuilding mode, but that doesn't mean they still aren't going to win some games. Paolo Espino (RHP - WAS) will make the start tonight and he'll surely appreciate getting a little more notice than last time, as he was a late replacement for Jon Lester after the Cardinals inexplicably traded for that bum. Seriously, the Cards would have been better off trading for Espino, no joke. In that turn against the Cubs, Espino hurled six innings of good ball, giving up just one run on four hits over 5.1 innings. He also struck out six Northsiders. The Phillies are chasing the Mets and therefore have some market appeal here, while the Nationals have seen their stock tank. Yet, Washington opened as the chalk. However, we suspect that may change once the efficient market gets a hold of the Phillies. With a series against the first placed Mets on deck, perhaps we can catch Philly in a look-ahead spot as well.
