Atlanta -1½ +187 over N.Y. METS

12:10 PM EST. Drew Smyly (LHP - ATL) has been solid over the past two months, with a 2.84 ERA in June and a 2.66 ERA in July. Smyly left his last start with a sore knee, but is expected to be ready for this outing. He's been at his best in day games, with a 3.25 ERA over five starts. The Mets rank last in the NL in home OPS at .684, and they rank 11th against LHP at .711. In other words, this appears to be a decent matchup for Smyly.

Taijuan Walker (RHP - NYM) is pencilled against Atlanta at the time of writing, but he is questionable with a left shoulder injury. Over the past month, Walker has struggled with a 9.00 ERA after walking 11 batters and striking out just 8 over 15 innings. Let’s not forget that Walker threw just 53 innings last year over 11 starts after a two-year hiatus that included Tommy John surgery and rehab issues. He’s thrown 94 frames already this year. The first sign of fatigue is not being able to throw strikes. The second sign is striking out fewer people. Taijuan Walker checks all the fatigue boxes with a big bold check mark and will come into this physically and mentally in rough shape. Incidentally, the Braves have been solid on the road, with a .712 OPS that ranks 6th, and they have hit well versus RHP, with a .752 OPS that ranks 4th.
