L.A. ANGELS -1½ +153 over Seattle

4:07 PM EST. Logan Gilbert (RHP - SEA) has pitched well recently, as he has a 2.32 ERA with three very good outings in his last five starts. Gilbert is very good, make no mistake, as he has four pitches that project out average or better. He also dominated over three levels in the minors in his first pro season in 2019, with an impressive K/BB ratio. He has a BB/K split of 2/24 over his last 20 innings. He’s one to watch but so is L.A.’s under-the-radar starter.

Patrick Sandoval (LHP - LAA) has put up the 11th highest swinging strike rate in the AL over the last 12 months (14.3%). In fact, among starters with a 13.0% swing & miss rate during that period, just Sandoval and three other starters have also posted a 50%+ groundball rate. Sandoval has a 56% groundball rate and 12% line-drive rate over his past five starts. Both those marks rank 1st in the majors over the past month. The Mariners have been outright lousy this year against southpaws and this might be the toughest one in the majors right now.

When one is going bad, one makes mistakes and we made one yesterday by not coming right back on the Angels after betting them Friday night and getting hit with a loss. The Halos rallied late Friday but just fell short in a 6-5 loss. They came out firing yesterday and whacked the Mariners, 9-4. On Friday, we wrote about how the Angels have grossly underachieved and how Seattle has overachieved to a high degree and then we pulled up after taking another loss. That was a mistake but we’re back on the Halos wagon again and will be until the odds catch up to them. At -125 today, the Angels are underpriced again but we’ll spot the runs.
