Kansas City -1½ +188 over CLEVELAND

7:10 PM EST. Danny Duffy (LHP - KC) had been out with a strained forearm for six weeks earlier this year but he's back in the rotation where he'd previously been outstanding in seven starts before the injury, posting a 1.94 ERA and a 48/12 K/BB through 42 innings. He hasn’t been as sharp upon his return but who cares, as the reason we’re getting a takeback like this on Kansas City is because Duffy hasn’t been as sharp and because the market doesn’t like the Royals. We, on the other hand, see that Kansas City is fourth in the majors in the fewest strikeouts right behind, Houston, San Diego and Toronto. That means the Royals put the ball in play and when you put the ball in play, good things tend to occur. Aside from that, the Indians might be the worst team in baseball but have somehow managed to put together a .500 record.

Zach Plesac (RHP - CLE) has allowed eight earned runs in his past two starts over 10.2 innings. The Baseball Team has lost eight in a row, which included losing twice yesterday while scoring one run combined. In the second game, they didn’t register a hit in seven frames. The Baseball Team has now dropped eight in a row. The All-Star break is coming up on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and Cleveland is on their knees crawling to the first-half finish line. It’s not easy winning games seeing as the lineup scores four runs a series.

The Cleveland Indians can’t hit. They can’t field, they can’t pitch and they can’t relieve either. Cleveland’s 2020 squad was propped up entirely by its stellar pitching staff: their lineup finished just 25th in runs scored per game. To address that issue, Mike Chernoff traded his second-best hitter (and best overall player) and let his third-best hitter walk in free agency. Problem solved. Is it any wonder the Indians can’t win games right now?
