Seattle -1½ +250 over TORONTO

1:05 PM EST. Two very decent pitchers on paper here, yet the total is still 9½ nad that’s because the park and bullpens are factored in. Point is, very few games these days are decided by one run and even less are decided by a run in the AL. At +240, Seattle spotting the extra half run is tremendous value.

Hyun-Jin Ryu (LHP - TOR) really doesn’t need much of an intro. Dude has been a model of consistency for years and it’s almost like AL East relocation and 2020 obstacles were never even a thing. However, Ryu’s swing and miss rate and K% is far below average. Ever since he came off the DL on May 14 (glute) he has not been the same. Since then, Ryu has 14 K’s in 31 innings to go along with 11 walks issued to form a horrible K/BB ratio. His swing and miss rate over that same span is a mere 8.1%. Incidentally, a glute injury consists of pain and stiffness after activity, especially in the morning after activity; swelling; tenderness; bruising; weakness. It is a tear of one or more muscles and takes weeks, not days to heal. Maybe Ryu is ok but he’s not pitching like it.

Yusei Kikuchi (LHP - SEA) was spectacular in June, with a 1.90 ERA and 1.06 WHIP over four starts, supported by a 3.37 xERA. He's thrown three gems in his past five starts. Furthermore, Kikuchi has been at his best on the road, with a 2.89/3.55 ERA/xERA split. At this price, the Mariners are absolutely worth a sprinkle.
