Detroit +170 over CLEVELAND

7:10 PM EST. We've backed Jean Carlos Mejia (RHP - CLE) multiple times this season, as he was in our sights from the beginning. Hell, we may have been the ones that put him on your radar. The truth is, we still like Mejia and his profile. However, we are not loyal to any team or any player. After a few turns to hurl, we are no longer the only ones now tooting Mejia’s horn. We could pick nits off the rookie, but that would be disingenuous. As we said, he’s fine enough, but the bandwagon is filling up and that makes this the right time to jump off.

So, where does that leave us? Well, this play is twofold. One, we're sticking with it. We backed the Tigers in the opener and they got molly walloped to the tune of 13-5. So much for that negative run differential for the Baseball Team that we pointed out yesterday, eh? Well, we're not ones for letting just one game or a crooked number change our stance on much of anything. If we thought the Baseballers were living a charmed life just 24 hours ago, there was nothing we saw last night that doesn't back that up instead, it only fuels that fire. Second, the efficient market has taken a stand in this game, driving the Baseball Team up to the pretty rich price you see now. We are value bettors first and foremost. If the Tigers don't fit that description tonight, we don't know who does.

As the elder statesman of this rotation, José Ureña (RHP - DET) does not get the hype that the kiddos do, but that doesn't mean he's not worthy of consideration. An elite groundball rate (51.9%) has the potential to limit the damage done and makes up for his lack of strikeouts so far in 2021. That Ureña dropped his seldom-used curveball last season seems to have served his other four pitches well. We’re willing to put our money where our mouths are and test that theory tonight.
