N.Y. METS -1½ +132 over Chicago

7:10 PM EST. Taijuan Walker (RHP - NYM) comes into this start in good form, as he has tossed a beauty in two of his last three starts. He has been incredible at home in five starts, where he is 3-0 with a 1.23 ERA and 0.96 WHIP in 29 innings. Walker is shutting down left-handed batters, holding them to just a .149 BA and .440 OPS.

Chicago Cubs RHP Alec Mills was activated from the 10-day injured list on June 8. Cory Abbott was optioned to Class AAA Iowa in a corresponding move and now the Cubs have to find a replacement for Adbert Alzolay, who was recently sidelined with a finger injury. Soft-tosser Mills is up first and we’re going to dig in. Mills has struggled in 2021, failing to sustain the sharp control/command he displayed in 2019-2020 to date. His first-pitch strike rate has plummeted while his swing & miss rate has continued to erode after a precipitous decline in 2020. Mills has walked 10 and struck out 15 in 24 innings this year. His swing & miss rate is 6.5% and his xERA is a Boeing 7.47. Like almost every pitcher at this level, Mills has had his moments, most notably a no-hitter but for the most part showed why he never claimed an extended opportunity. Dude lacks swing-and-miss stuff and his K-BB% remains weak. In short, a small-sample mess that gets this start only because the Cubbies need a body.
