7:10 PM EST. Jonathan Brubaker (RHP - PIT) has run into some rough luck of late with a 6.23 ERA over the past 31 days, despite a respectable 1.29 WHIP and 3.96 xERA over the same time span. Brubaker has walked a mere 13 batters in 60 innings while striking out 62. Now throw in a solid 50% groundball rate and it rounds out the profile of a starter that is pitching very well without the results. If Brubaker was starting for the Nats today and Jon Lester (LHP - WAS) was starting for Pittsburgh, Brubaker would be a better than 2-1 favorite. Today, he’s an underdog to Lester.

Jon Lester has had six of his eight starts this season result in a pure disaster. Nearing the end of the road in his career, his skill set is terrible (5.94 xERA, 16 BB 27 K’s in 39 innings). Right-handed batters are hitting him especially well, with a .297 BA and .851 OPS. Lester is pure fade material when he’s favored and if Washington happens to win here, so be it. What we know for sure is that we’re getting the vastly superior starter at a plus price.
