N.Y. Mets +152 over SAN DIEGO

10:10 PM EST. Yu Darvish is good, we’re not going to argue otherwise but the risk is in his groundball/fly-ball split, which is at a troublesome 31%/50%. He’s had long-ball issues in the past and if the Mets can get a hold of one or two, we should have a chance to cash. Darvish was also a bit shaky in his last start with three walks issued in five innings to go along with a 1.40 WHIP and a 4.77 xERA. It’s not like he’s never had issues before with nagging injuries so that bears watching as well. It’s also worth noting that the Padres lost a couple of everyday players yesterday to injury and now return home minus three players (Tatis Jr, shortstop Ha-seong Kim, and left fielder Tommy Pham) from an exhausting 10-game trip.

New York Mets RHP Taijuan Walker (side) was activated from the 10-day injured list Saturday, May 29 and proceeded to strike out eight batters in five innings without allowing a single run. Taijuan Walker has an impressive 1.84 ERA and while he’s not quite as good as his ERA would suggest, he has a few things going for him. He has outstanding pedigree and has shown excellent skills at the big league level before. Walker has a long way to go to become a front-line starter once again but he’s close and there's not a lot of downside in his profile. He’s also at the perfect age (28) to start thriving again.
