N.Y. Mets -107 over MIAMI

7:10 PM EST. The Rodney Dangerfield’s of MLB head to Miami evenly priced against the Marlins. Huh? Marcus Stroman (RHP - NYM) evenly priced or an underdog to Jordan Halloway (RHP - MIA)? Huh? Living in Ontario and getting extensive Blue Jays coverage, we’re very aware of Marcus Stroman’s fierce competitive nature. You will not find a professional player with a bigger chip on his shoulder than Stroman, a dude that hates to give up a hit, let alone lose a game. Now, trust us when we suggest that every single pitcher in the majors knows the betting line on a game he’s the listed pitcher in. Now trust us again when we suggest that Marcus Stroman will be extremely fired up tonight just knowing that he’s an underdog or evenly priced against a Single-A pitcher. It’s fucking insulting.

Holloway was a starter in the minors, but he only reached High-A Jupiter in 2019. He needs more time in the upper levels before he is ready for sustained success in the majors. Holloway throws two very good pitches: his mid-90s heavy four-seam fastball and his plus 78 mph curve. However, at this time, there's no evidence of an effective third pitch so essentially, this is a Single-A pitcher with two pitches that is favored over the Mets and Stroman. How can that be?

Holloway has appeared in seven games this year, two as a starter. His misleading 2.70 ERA has likely caught the eye of the market, which provides us with this opportunity. Holloway has walked 10 batters in 17 innings. His 7.9% swing and miss rate is weak and so is his 52% first-pitch strike rate. Dude has an xERA of 5.79 (9.44 in his two starts) and is being treated like he’s a 5-year vet with success. On May 11, Marcus Stroman was a -161 favorite over Baltimore and John Means. The Mets won that day 3-2 and now Stroman is an underdog to a Single-A pitcher that has shown nothing? WTF is that?
