Milwaukee +102 over CHICAGO

7:40 PM EST. Brett Anderson’s (LHP - MIL) brittle arm tossed more innings over two months in 2020 than he did in four seasons earlier in career. His steep ground-ball lean limits blowup risk, but it's becoming more than offset by lack of whiffs and eroding velocity. Now, we ask you, is Brett Anderson’s skills much different than Kyle Hendricks? They are both finesse pitchers with a high ground-ball rate with limited strikeouts. The only difference is that Hendricks has proven to be so much more durable but we’re not talking about a fantasy draft here, we’re talking about one lousy game. Incidentally, Hendricks was a -220 favorite as the opening day starter for the Cubs. That said, this wager has nothing to do with getting behind Anderson. It’s about fading Chicago’s starter and the regressing team he plays for.

Trevor Williams (RHP - CHC) may be with a new team, but his first turn will come against a team that he has a fair amount of exposure to in his career. In 46.2 IP against the Crew, Williams compiled a 3.09 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and 9.6 K’s/9 against the Brewers; including one weak performance in last year. Williams has never posted league average metrics, and his 4.99 and 5.26 xERA totals each of the last two seasons are especially worrisome when you factor in his 10% K-BB% for his career and massive home run issues the last two years (1.7 & 2.4 HR/9). His history of underwhelming K rates void of pinpoint control dims the hopes of an effective pitch-to-contact future. Next!
