San Francisco +108 over SEATTLE

10:10 PM EST. One could absolutely bet the Mariners on the money line in the -115 to -125 range but we’re not of that mindset. We much prefer the bigger take-back even though Seattle’s Safeco Field is known as a pitcher’s park. That pitcher’s park surrendered 15 runs yesterday in a wild, 8-7 Mariners win. Today, we have a decent fade target in Johnny Cueto (RHP - SF) going up against a very undervalued starter for the Mariners.

Cueto’s skills last year almost rebounded to pre-Tommy John surgery levels but not quite. In fact, post-surgery xBB% and swing and miss rate taken together have "uh-oh" written all over them. Now, as he enters his age-35 season, there's far more downside than upside in this forecast. As in, a repeat could be in the cards, and it could be fully-earned. Cueto posted a ERA/xERA split last year of 5.40/4.88 and his skills are skeptical of improvement.

Small sample advisory is in place here on Yusei Kikuchi (LHP - SEA) however, you couldn't script a better buying opportunity. Dude picked up 2½ mph of velocity, which in turn drove a spike of K% and swinging strikes, plus nice gains in his ground-ball rate. Also note that gains translated both versus lefties and versus righties, plus he solved his HR issues. Best of all, this entire story is hidden behind an ERA history that says "nothing to see here." Pounce on this... with care.
