L.A. Angels -1½ +185 over COLORADO

8:10 PM EST. When we wager on games at Coors Field, whether it be on the underdog or the chalk, we almost always play it on the run line because there are so few one-run victorious at Coors and thus, the run-line offers up great value. In this case, it is the “alternate run-line”.

Jaime Barria (RHP - LAA) is becoming very interesting again just like he was when he was 21 years old. He’s now 24 and has paid his dues as both a starter and reliever at this level, as well as getting whacked more than a few times. Thing is, he’s always had the stuff but never put it all together and some guys take longer than others. Hell, Jacob deGrom didn’t start to thrive until he was 26-years old. Also consider that when Barria was 21 and called up for the first time, he had made just 20 starts combined at Double-A and Triple-A. His value might remain more middle-of-the-pack as he continues to figure things out, but there could be some intriguing upside if he can find a path to more strikeouts while maintaining his current level of control. Dude has 17 K’s in 19 innings. His swing and miss rate last game as a starter was a lofty 18.9%. After starting the year in the pen, he’s now back to where he is most comfortable, as a starter. He's been very good against LHP too. Absolutely keep an eye on him.

Kyle Freeland (LHP- COL) is rated in the red for this home start against the surging Angels (.843 OPS last 14 games). A couple of Freeland’s recent road turns have been shaky, and now he returns home after coming off a season-high pitch count in his last effort. Freeland’s last two starts at Coors resulted in him being tagged for 19 hits in 6.1 innings. Yikes.
