Seattle +140 over SAN FRANCISCO

9:45 PM EST. Logan Webb (RHP - SF) priced like an ace? The same Logan Webb that was +220 against the Dodgers, +155 against Colorado and Jonathan Gray, +116 against Mike Minor and the Rangers, +320 against Alex Wood and the Dodgers back in late July and +106 against Robbie Ray when Ray pitched for the Snakes? Yep, same guy. Logan Webb is showing only mediocre skills, which don't show much upside. He does keep the ball on the ground and he has only allowed two jacks this season but right-handed batters have enjoyed their at bats against him with a .844 OPS. In his last two starts, Webb has been tagged for nine earned runs in nine innings.

Ljay Newsome (RHP - SEA) is a stocky-framed, 26th round pick in the 2015 draft that has slowly worked his way up as a starting pitcher. For his career he owns a 3.54 ERA, 8.5 K’s/9, and surprisingly excellent control. He has not walked a batter this year. Managers love having pitchers on their staff who don't give up a lot of walks, so Newsome could very well find himself with consistent big league work if he can continue that stingy trend in Seattle. His pitch selection consists of a low 90s fastball, a slider with sharp break, and a change that plays up due to his excellent command. Thanks to that excellent control, LJ has the chance to carve out a roll and so far, we like what we see. He’s started two games and has posted solid under the hood numbers that include a 10.5% swing and miss rate, 55% grounders and balls that are softly hit. At this price with a feisty Mariners bunch behind him, you can pencil us in.
