San Diego +121 over OAKLAND

9:40 PM EST. Jesus Luzardo (LHP - OAK) is coming off of a good month of August (3.67 ERA, 9 K’s/9, 2.7 BB’s/9, 4.00 xERA), but on Friday, he'll face one of his stiffest tests in a matchup against a Padres offense that has led the league in runs scored and OPS (.837). Despite a lineup that typically features several left-handed hitters, San Diego has been just as good vs. LHP (.837 OPS), and their numbers haven't suffered too much on the road (.802 OPS). It’s not like Luzardo hasn’t been hit hard either. The Giants whacked him, the Rockies rocked him (in Oakland) and Texas hit him hard too with not a lot to show for it.

Zach Davies’ (RHP - SD) market appeal is perhaps being unfairly punished for his previous mediocre track record, but he's showing signs of improvement in 2020 (career-best 8.1 K’s/9, 10.7% swing & miss rate and absolute pinpoint control) that merit attention that he is not getting. We’re the beneficiaries, as this combination of Davies pitching for the Padres has resulted in the Friars winning four of his six starts with the only two losses coming against the Dodgers in Los Angeles and in Colorado. Overlay.
