St. Louis +100 over CINCINNATI

6:40 PM EST. The Reds rank 19th in OPS against righthanders and will face one here in Dakota Hudson (RHP - St. L). Hudson was a rookie in 2019 that made the most of elite groundball skills and fine infield defense, aided by hit% and strand% support and a 2nd-half swing and miss uptick. He’s been just as good, if not better this year with a 59% groundball rate, 16 K’s and a 3.32/4.15 ERA/xERA split. Dude throws strikes and he gets out. His groundball heavy approach bodes well at this park too.

Then there’s Anthony DeSclafani (RHP - CIN) who posted a 2.42 ERA (4.14 xERA), 10.7 K’s/9 and a 20%/40% dominant start/disaster start split over five games against the Cardinals in 2019 and then he faced them again on August 21 and it wasn’t pretty. Man, the Cards have seen a lot of this guy, Great American Ballpark is a disadvantage for DeSclafani too, especially against LHB, as he yielded a 1.8 hr/9 and 51% HardHit% against southpaws in 2019 and this year combined. The Reds home park boosts HR production by 16% to LHB over the last three years. Currently all 3 jacks against him in 2020 have come against LHB, and the Cardinals could offer six of them in their starting lineup. His first-pitch strike (59%) and control (3.6 BB’s/9) have seen a downward trend thus far, which mimics most of his other skills as well (5.48 xERA, 5.7 K’s/9, 10.5% swing and miss).  The Cardinals offense has been lackluster this season, but they rank in the Top-10 over the last seven day with an OPS of .808 OPS.
