Baltimore +135 over TORONTO

3:05 PM EST. Kansas City Royals RHP Jorge Lopez was claimed off waivers by the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday, Aug. 9. Lopez has been up and down since 2015 and finally got a long look in the majors with Kansas City in 2019. Things did not go well. In 124 innings, Lopez had a 4.75 xERA. In 2020, he made one appearance with the Royals in July, and he didn’t do any better. In two-thirds of an inning, he gave up three hits and two earned runs. Shortly thereafter, the Royals placed Lopez on waivers from which Baltimore claimed him. The Orioles pitching staff has been in flux much of 2020, so how he will be used remains to be seen. Lopez has appeared in four games overall this year but none as a starter. In 10 innings, he has struck out eight and walked three with a 50% groundball rate. Dude is still trying to find his MLB footing. He is utilizing his sinker-heavy mix so perhaps the O’s can get some innings out of him today. Regardless of what happens with Lopez, this might be the biggest overlay on today’s board.

Tanner Roark (RHP - TOR) cannot be priced in this range on his very best day. Roark has walked 13 batters while striking out 17 in 22 frames. Dude has a 2.06 WHIP over his last five starts! Over his last 17 frames, he has walked 13 and stuck out 12. He has a horrible groundball/line-drive/fly-ball profile of 38%/26%/35%. His first pitch strike rate is 46%. He has a 5.86 xERA but an even higher one of 6.88 over his last four starts. Tanner Roark is a 33-year-old stiff with the worst metrics in all of baseball among starters with 20 or more innings this year. Now he’s priced like he’s Blake Snell. It’s fu**ing absurd.
